Study of the Optical Features of Tb3+:CaYAlO4 and Tb3+/Pr3+:CaYAlO4 Crystals for Visible Laser Applications

Single crystals of Tb3+ single-doped and Tb3+/Pr3+ co-doped CaYAlO4 were produced by the Czochralski method. The room-temperature polarized absorption spectra, emission decay curves recorded analyzed in detail. cross-section around 487 nm was found to be 1.53 × 10−22 cm2 for π polarization Tb3+:CaYAlO4 crystal increased 5.23 Tb3+/Pr3+:CaYAlO4 crystal. spectroscopic parameters calculated through Judd–Ofelt theory. For crystal, bands green light at 546 yellow 587 had fluorescence branching ratios 64.7% 6.65% with cross-sections 8.82 (σ-polarization) 0.44 (π-polarization), respectively. lifetimes 5D4 multiplets measured 1.41 ms 1.1 crystals, energy transfer mechanisms Pr3+ their spectral intensities different temperatures analyzed. As temperature increased, luminescence intensity decreased almost linearly CIE coordinate variation, from (0.370, 0.621) (0.343, 0.636) (0.345, 0.638) (0.246, 0.698), results indicate potential as visible laser materials a wide range.
